Off with the old, on with the new….

The quilting for MY two-color quilt it finished.  It’s off the frame, trimmed and ready for binding, sleeves and a label.  Here’s a sneak peek of one of the borders.  I’ll keep you guessing on what two colors I used.

The next quilt is loaded and I’m working on the stitch-in-the-ditch to start.  It’s a Girl Scout quilt and has tons and tons of different patches on it.  This is one prolific Scout!  It’s a gift for the customer’s grand-daughter who is earning her Gold Award.  The large empty area next to the vest is where the sash will be going.

I’ll be stitching around each patch using a trapunto hopping foot so that I can get in nice and close.  There will be lots of out-lining on this quilt.  The patches will need lots of support to keep them from making the quilt look saggy.

The words “Gold Award” at the top are pieced with gold  lamé and it about blinded me when the light hit it while I was stitching around each letter.  Very sparkly…..some young lady is going to be thrilled when she see’s it.

I can’t wait to get a picture of the back too.  It’s pieced, bordered and includes Girl Scout cookie fabric!  Sue D….does it again.

  2. Your quilting is gorgeous! I used to hand quilt years ago and made each of my children and half of my grandchildren quilts before my thumb gave out. Had to have joint replacement on my thumb and haven't tried to quilt since. Maybe I should try again...I do love a good quilt!

  3. Hi Nicky,
Found your blog via my own blog lol. Thanks for following me.
I have to say, your quilting is amazing. I have quilted (I am a hand-quilter) and my mum is an amazing quilter too (she hand- and machine-quilts). I reckon she would be green with envy to see your long-arm machine. She sews hers on her 40yo Elna machine (which is mine when she goes on to heaven lol).
Fantastic blog, gorgeous grand-baby and wonderful tangles. Keep up the great blog!!
